Bugler Bob Starts 2019 with a Bang
There was plenty of promise in Bugler Bob’s five starts in 2018 with the son of Dandy Man finishing in the first three on four occasions. However, he was a horse that I hoped might improve after a winter break. He had suffered with sore shins last year and was never quite able to show what he did at home. A gelding operation over the winter months also helped.
His win at Newcastle on Monday evening was the perfect way for him to start his 2019 campaign. In a race against fellow three year olds he knuckled down to win by 3/4 of a length in the end.
I would hope that this win can tee him up nicely for further success down the line. He is a straightforward and likeable gelding who should have more to come. Well done to his owners Rob and Elaine Houlton.
