Saturday Double at Southwell Caps Good Week

 In Latest News

Bodacious Name and Grazeon Roy’s victories at Southwell on Saturday ensured that we finished the week with three winners from six runners. Racing may not come as thick and fast at this time of year but our string remains in good form which is pleasing to see.

Bodacious Name had met with a date at the sales recently where we purchased him back for £1500. His recent form was good and arguably he was unlucky not to win off a slow pace at Musselburgh on his most recent start. Again on Saturday the pace throughout the race was not strong and it so nearly proved to be the horses undoing twice in a row. At the top of the home straight the field were tightly bunched and the race turned in to a sprint. Unsurprisingly, Bodacious Name was tapped for toe and was squeezed out of it slightly by rivals who accelerated quicker than him. However, he managed to hit top gear inside the final furlong and mastered his rivals close to the finish. He should remain competitive in the coming weeks and is for sale!

Grazeon Roy is a horse on a real roll at the moment and he followed up a recent course and distance win with another. This time though it was in a slightly higher grade.  An honest tempo throughout meant that this race became a real stamina test. Grazeon Roy and another three year old became embroiled in a battle up the home straight. However, Jason Hart always looked to be holding the ace card and in the end was able to win on ‘Roy’ without picking up his stick. I hope that the horse can continue to improve on the flat next season. For now though I am going to school him up over hurdles and go down the juvenile hurdle avenue with him.
