Double Delight Up in The Toon
A double at Newcastle on Thursday evening provided us with plenty of reason to cheer. Bugler Bob and Rebel Redemption both won sprint handicaps on the card under Jason Hart. Their victories were both in similar fashion too owing to canny front running rides from Jason at a track where it can be difficult to dictate matters owing to its stiff nature.
First up was Bugler Bob who for whatever reason has shown his best form at the Gosforth venue over the past twelve months. He was trying seven furlongs for only the second time in his career and looked very much at home over the trip. The early gallop was pedestrian and Bugler Bob dictated matters before pressing on over two furlongs from home. He was able to quicken clear from his rivals and in the end won by a length and half. If he is OK after his exploits we may well run him somewhere next week under a penalty.
Rebel Redemption won his last start of 2019 at Chelmsford and he confirmed himself still on the up when backing up that win here. Again Jason made the running on him and produced a ride that was almost a carbon copy to what he had given Bugler Bob. This time though the finish was much closer. Rebel Redemption was joined by the eventual second placed horse and what was encouraging was how he knuckled down and battled on again to eventually win by a neck. Hopefully both horses can continue to pay their way in the coming weeks.
