Bal Mal Provides Memories of ‘Wow’ at Wolves
It may have been a long way from Deauville and Royal Ascot but Bal Mal’s victory at Wolverhampton gave us fond times to remember as he became the first winner we have trained by his father The Wow Signal who in 2015 proved a real stable star when winning the Coventry Stakes and Prix Morny Stakes.
Bal Mal mightn’t have the ability of his father but he has found his level in recent times since going handicapping. A good run at Kempton when finishing second last time was backed up by a win at Wolverhampton on Monday evening.
Bal Mal was trying five furlongs for the first time here after showing plenty of speed last time out. The drop in trip worked the oracle for him and he showed a willing attitude to win by a neck. The handicapper can’t be too hard on him for this victory and I would hope that the horse has further wins in him in the not too distant future.
