Dandy Doc Defies Odds To Break Maiden
She may have been a 50/1 shot but My Dandy Doc took no notice of that when winning at Doncaster on Sunday. The filly had shown promise in four starts last year as a two year old but improved to register her first win under Dougie Costello.
A large field assembled and the race was open enough on paper. Plenty of the contenders appeared unexposed. My Dandy Doc sat towards the rear of the field and enjoyed plenty of cover from the field. From the halfway stage she began to creep forward, passing horses gradually. At the furlong pole she was set about her task by Dougie and made her effort to reel in the leader who has set sail for home. She got to the leader about half a furlong from the finish and stayed on strongly to win by three quarters of a length. I would hope that there are further wins in My Dandy Doc over the coming weeks.
