First Impression Wins Kilkerran Cup
The first day of the Western Meeting at Ayr saw us take home the big prize with First Impression winning the Kilkerran Cup. His season had started so well when he won a good handicap at Redcar. Two subsequent below par runs can be accounted for and it was great to see him bounce back and produce a career best up in Scotland.
First Impression travelled well towards the head of affairs under Ben Curtis and it was apparent when they turned in to the straight that he was going to take a big hand in the finish. He pressed on in an attempt to reel in the leaders around two furlongs from home and hit the front inside the last furlong. In the end he held on gamely to win by three quarters of a length.
Options are very much fluid as to where we might go with this improving three year old. He has been schooled over hurdles at home though and jumps well. It could be that he’ll be seen in juvenile hurdles before too long.
