2018 bay filly by Belardo (Ire) ex Fork Handles (GB) (Doyen (Ire))
Book 3 has been a happy hunting ground for us when buying fillies in recent years. Signora Cabello was purchased for 20,000 Guineas at the sale 2 years ago and went on to be our stable star in the summer of 2018.
This filly is unlikely to be as speedy as ‘Signora’ but just like that filly she boasts a black-type pedigree which suggests that she could be above average.
Her dam Fork Handles was a supremely tough but also classy filly when racing between 2010-12. She was precocious enough to win a six-furlong maiden at Haydock as a two-year-old and also produced sterling efforts to finish third in a Group 3 at Deauville and fourth in the Group 1 Fillies Mile Stakes. Her careers spanned over three seasons and she signed off having run 21 times on turf and was in the money on 10 occasions.
This fillies’ sire Belardo was similar himself. He was European champion two-year-old after his Dewhurst win. Then at four he bounced right back to his best to win the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury and then arguably produced his career-best effort on his last start when finishing second behind wonder-mare Tepin in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot conceding three pounds to her.
